    We work with numerous volunteers all over the world to run the Golden Baobab Prize. This allows us to run the Prize leanly and efficiently. We send our volunteers appreciation packages to show our immense gratitude for their indispensable contribution in achieving our mission.

    Golden Baobab is a registered non profit organization in Ghana that works with children’s writers and illustrators from all 54 African countries. We support writers and illustrators across Africa to create world class children’s storybooks that reflect African experiences. We achieve this primarily through our children’s literary competition, the Golden Baobab Prize, one of the most respected initiatives in African literature today.

    There are few pan African cultural initiatives like Golden Baobab and fewer still that focus on literary and illustration talent to create content for children. We have been named pioneers in this field and recognized with such several awards for this. For instance, the Echoing Green Fellowship named us as as one of the world's most ground breaking social enterprises working on an idea that has the possibility to change the way the world thinks.

    The Golden Baobab Prize is a continent -wide cultural initiative that brings together writers and artists from all 54 African countries to showcase and recognize the best children’s stories and illustrations. We have a huge publicity platform and advertise across several countries. The impact of our Prize attracts press coverage from major local and international TV, radio, online and print media. One of our biggest strengths is in online and social media communications. It is the primary way we reach our entrants and supporters, and this is extremely important because we have over 100,000 combined followers on our online and social media platforms.
